Module Information

In Module 2, participants will learn about oral language acquisition and literacy development. Participants will begin to understand the importance of oral language development as it relates to early literacy, as well as the conditions for language learning that classroom teachers need to consider. In addition, stages of reading development will be explored. Key elements and components will be introduced within the context of building literacy knowledge.

In Module 2, you will:

    • Make personal connections through a reflection journal and weekly Collaboration Group meetings.
    • Learn about how language and literacy develop from birth through school age.
    • Become familiar with the integration of oral and written language.
    • Evaluate your own growth and the effectiveness of the module.
