September 9: Appointment of Sylvia M. Flores as the new Acting Executive Director of Guam KAHA by Governor Felix P. Camacho.

FY 2005 Grants–KAHA through its grants programs, awarded a total of $165,100 in grants to individuals and organizations in support of projects encompassing arts in education, folk arts, performing arts, media arts, visual arts, special projects and general operational support.   Grant awards range from a low of $1,000 to a high of $10,900. Forty-two applications were submitted this grant cycle, and 36 were approved funding support from KAHA.

Effective in October, the KAHA Gallery began operating 7 days a week enabling the agency to serve its constituents on a daily basis.

November 11–Unveiling of the new Guam Tourist and Recreation Map by Guam's ìMr. Tourismî Bert Unpingco at the KAHA Gallery–Map highlights Guam facts, historical and cultural sites, scenic landmarks, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, boating, hiking, and shopping spots, along with the tropical fish of Micronesia.

KAHA's 18-Month Calendar: An 18-month calendar will feature artwork of many of Guam 's finest visual artists.  

Partnerships:

Christmas Pageant of Peace: KAHA, in conjunction with the Office of Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo, solicited 50 handmade ornaments created by Guam visual artists and nonprofit organizations to be displayed on Guam's tree, along with trees of the 50 states and territories. The event coincided with the 81st anniversary of the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington D.C. in early December.

Åñon Fino' Chamorro Yan Kottura Poster Contest: As a member of the planning committee of the 2005 Year of the Chamorro Language and Culture Celebration, once again, KAHA is responsible for coordinating the annual poster contest. Contest is open to all public, private, and DODEA school students. Deadline is December 17th .  

KAHA remains an active member of both the Cultural and Heritage Committee (CHC) and the Community Development Committee (CDC) of the Guam Visitors Bureau and the Authentication and Standardization Committee of the Department of Chamorro Affairs.

KAHA established a partnership with Calvo's Corporation and the Department of Parks and Recreation committed to the improvement and enhancement of Puntan Dos Amantes, Two Lovers Point.

Awards: 2004 Excellence in Tourism Awards: On May 7th, KAHA received the ìHafa Adai Spiritî Award from the Guam Visitors Bureau.

  • September 17–29: ìThe Art of Our Techas ñ Guam 's Living Shrines and Home Altarsî  Photographic exhibit by Hope Cristobal and William Hernandez
  • October 1–31: Photographic Exhibit–Guam Humanities Council featuring family genealogy
  • November 5–30: 2nd Annual Guam Veterans' Creative Arts Showcase
  • December 3–January 11: KAHA Christmas Art Exhibit with performances by 0the island choirs.

  • March 4–30  Annual Chamorro Month Celebration and Exhibit ñ Exhibit and Performances reflecting the Chamorro history and heritage
  • April 1–May 11  Department of Education–Elementary, Middle and High School student art exhibits
  • April: 24th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival, Saipan, CNMI
  • April: 1st Guam International Arts Festival: KAHA is making plans to have the First Guam International Arts Festival. Invitations will be extended to off-island and local performing and visual artists representing the different ethnic groups in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in the festival
  • April: Fiscal Year 2006 KAHA Grant Cycle Begins    
  • June: Philippine Cultural Exhibit
