Nineteen residents of the U.S.-affiliated Pacific attended the 2006 Pacific Library Training Institute (PLTI) in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. The PLTI, funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and organized by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), took place from June 7–29, 2006, at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
By providing professional development to this group, all of whom are preprofessional staff working in libraries in their home jurisdictions, the PLTI seeks to improve library services across the region.
The 2006 PLTI participants gained expertise in acquisitions, collection management, reference, library instruction and cataloging. The program included morning classes, field trips, and site visits to various Oahu libraries. This section includes copies of course materials that were distributed, as well as group exercises that were used in the classroom.
