PREL’s programs are organized into three Centers of Excellence—the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT); the Center for Information, Communications, and Technology (CICT); and the Center for Accountability, Research, and Evaluation (CARE)—each of which is dedicated to providing the very best school improvement, professional development, technical assistance, assessment, and research and evaluation services to meet the needs of individual clients.
The CARE is comprised of several programs that work to address the assessment, research, and evaluation needs of the Pacific region: JUMP Into Reading for Meaning (JUMP), Pacific Assessment Systems and Services (PASS), the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Pacific, the Regional Education Master’s Online Training in Evaluation (REMOTE), and External Evaluations.
PREL brings together in the CICT an experienced cadre of specialists in website development and design, educational technology, distance and online learning, multimedia production, interactive software development, library and information science, writing and editing, graphics, print production, and educational outreach and resource services. By combining tested pedagogy with leading-edge technology, PREL can create learning materials encompassing a wide variety of subject matter and delivery methods. PREL’s CICT partners with researchers, educators, evaluators, and publishers to develop state-of-the-art learning tools for classrooms, distance learning services, real-world professional development options, and unique Web interface solutions.
The CLT partners with organizations to provide coordinated, collaborative, and sustainable services to create the best educational opportunities possible. The CLT assists schools in developing standards-based curricula, materials, and instructional strategies across content areas that integrate technology and value the knowledge, and linguistic and cultural practices of learners and teachers. The CLT also assists communities with implementing educational initiatives that improve the work readiness and economic productivity of community members. Most importantly, the CLT’s programs work to strengthen partnerships between parents, educational professionals, and communities in support of improving learning.
