Paul Hadik, State Director of Education in Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), has joined Pacific Resources for Education and Learning’s (PREL’s) Board of Directors, President and CEO Tom Barlow announced recently.
Appointed Kosrae State Director of Education this year, Director Hadik comes to PREL’s Board with over 10 years of experience in Kosrae’s educational system. Most recently, before his appointment as Director of Education, Hadik was principal of Kosrae High School (KHS). There, he oversaw 50 teachers and staff and over 500 students daily. He planned yearly teacher and student schedules; taught seven or more classes full-time; and implemented pilot programs, such as the school’s Advanced, Remedial, and Student Nursing programs. Among many other accomplishments, he introduced and enforced new graduation requirements and new school rules and brought student records up to date.
Prior to serving as principal at KHS, Hadik was a consultant to the Kosrae State Department of Education (DOE) and assessed all school activities, prepared the KHS Improvement Plan as well as the State Department of Education Improvement Plan, wrote the new KHS handbook, participated in the preparation for the State and National Leadership Conference, assisted in the preparation of the DOE budget, recruited teachers for KHS, and prepared testing and education reports for elementary and high schools.
With the College of Micronesia—FSM Kosrae Branch, Hadik prepared student and teacher schedules; managed and taught the intensive English program; and taught all English classes, Micronesian History, Introduction to Music, Expository Writing, and the World of Work.
Earlier in his career, he served as Senior English Teacher and English Chair at KHS, where he taught all seven senior English classes and coached the Kosrae debate team in 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, and 2005.
