Tom Craven

Associate Director, MACIMISE

Dr. Tom Craven serves as Associate Director of Mathematics and Culture in Micronesia: Integrating Societal Experiences (MACIMISE), a project focusing on indigenous mathematics, K–12 curriculum development, and teacher education in Micronesia. His work at PREL began as a consultant on the Developing Effective Leadership Team Activities (DELTA) project.

Dr. Craven is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoā, a position he has held since 1973. In addition to publishing nearly 60 papers in research mathematics, he has been active in math education and teacher training for most of his career. Dr. Craven is an active member of the Hawai‘i Council of Teachers of Mathematics, formerly as a Director and currently maintains their website.
